SPRING CLEANING (5/13/04)
Third time’s a charm or so they say
That was before you went away
And today
I’m left wondering
If what could have been could still be
If the words you speak are spoken for me
And can I see
The answers anywhere
And I just thought that
Maybe you should know...
I don’t want your money
I don’t need a ring
Hold off on the roses
And the songs you can’t sing
I’ll send back the chocolates
The card you can keep
But just once I would like
To be swept off my feet
I loved your shirt ‘til you changed your clothes
I’m scared to walk this trodden road
Is what I know
A reason to run away?
I want to believe this is for real
I want to trust the way you feel
But this appeal
Has crimson warning signs
And I just thought that
Maybe you should know...
I don’t want your money
I don’t need a ring
Hold off on the roses
And the songs you can’t sing
I’ll send back the chocolates
The card you can keep
But just once I would like
To be swept off my feet
Show me that the words are true
Show me all that I once knew
Please show me you
And I just thought that
Maybe you should know...
I don’t want your money
I don’t need a ring
Hold off on the roses
And the songs you can’t sing
I’ll send back the chocolates
The card you can keep
But just once I would like
To be swept off my feet
The ball’s in your court, and there’s nowhere to run
After game, set, match, who will have won?
And is it done
Or has it just begun?
Show me that the words are true
Show me all that I once knew
Please show me you
